Refurbish LANL Buildings
Refurbish Buildings 158, 161, 208 at TA 46
Los Alamos National Laboratory
Contract Number: B20120026-CI
MSR was the prime contractor on the Refurbishing of Building 158, 161, and 208 at TA 46. These buildings were used for warehouse space, offices and laser experiments before construction, and Building 208, below ground, was used as a warehouse. After construction the buildings were used for analyzing LANL's waste streams and for the laser experiments. The project entailed changing the warehouse into a laboratory for analyzing waster for chemical and radioactive contaminants. A storage vessel capable of holding radioactive waste was incorporated into the site for contaminants in the waste. The offices were refurbished with new electrical and mechanical systems and the laser experiment room was moved from Building158 to Building 208. This project was in a non-secure area of Los Alamos National Laboratory. While the laser experiments were being conducted in Building 158 during construction, it was necessary that all electrical power be maintained to the room in which the lasers were housed and also to provide safe access into and out of this room. Completion date of this project was 5/8/97; with the contract modification the date was changed to 6/30/97. MSR’s actual completion date was 5/30/97.
