United Church of Santa Fe

United Church of Santa Fe
Santa Fe, New Mexico

Owner: Rev. Talitha J. Arnold, Minister

Architect: Craig Hoopes & Associates

Project: Remodel & Addition

Contract Amount: $469,221

Completion Date: March 13, 2002

The addition and remodel of the United Church of Santa Fe was started in late spring and successfully completed by MSR in late fall. The project consisted of two areas of work:  the first was the church offices and the second was the sanctuary. Although religious services were normally held on the weekend, on occasion they were held during the week and this required MSR to stop construction or stop portions of the ongoing construction. Special care was taken to ensure the existing sanctuary was kept secure, safe, and free from dust, as well as protecting it from cold in the spring and fall and heat in the summertime. The existing sanctuary was constructed of plastered and adobe walls, with heavy rough sawn roof timbers. The addition and remodel of the sanctuary consisted of an increase in size by forty percent.
